Like last year, TSV 1860 travels to the winter training camp in Belek.
The subtle difference: the hotel this time is significantly more expensive.
Munich
– Angela Merkel and Barack Obama were there – as part of the G20 summit in 2015. Jennifer Lopez and other pop greats also performed exclusively at the Regnum Carya – Belek's flagship hotel, where Real Madrid also trains its royal talents.
The Regnum stands out from the many five-star resorts on the Turkish Riviera not only because of its size (1 million square meters), but also because of its other superlatives: 13 restaurants, luxury spa, jungle gym under palm trees, plus wonderfully well-kept golf courses. , tennis and soccer fields.
TSV 1860: Training camp almost twice as expensive as last year
On the latter, a German third division team will soon be trying to find their form again: TSV 1860, who had booked the Sueno Deluxe for their Belek stay last year.
Three nights in a double room do not cost 1744 euros there as in the Regnum at the beginning of January, but seven to eight bills less (source: booking.com).

Whose initiative it was that the lions indulged in luxuries like statesmen can only be guessed at.
But the fact is that the choice of the training camp domicile not only amazed the fans, but also the club president.
Compared to "Bild", Robert Reisinger clearly criticized the choice of quarters: "It's at Champions League level, costs almost half more than last season.
We always pride ourselves on being close to the fans, but now we are barricading ourselves in a wickedly expensive hotel and excluding the supporters.” Reisinger’s opinion, which he is by no means exclusive: “That’s not how I understand 1860.”
TSV 1860: Players praise conditions
However, it is typical of 1860 that it did not take long before the first person was found who demonstratively sided with the Regnum advocates.
Investor Hasan Ismaik said on his Instagram channel: "I find it extremely out of place that (...) the upcoming training camp in Belek is repeatedly criticized.
Our management and trainer Michael Köllner made a conscious decision to spend the days in Turkey, knowing full well that the team should lack for nothing.
Of course we all want our players to honor this and pay it back with strong performances on the pitch.”

Said players also don't seem unhappy these winter days that their employer allows them a comfortable January camp.
"Everything will be tried to ensure that we have good conditions," says captain Stefan Lex: "What ultimately makes a difference in terms of price - I'm far too far away for that.
It's always good for us as players if you have a place at the hotel.
The worst thing is when you can't train properly or drive somewhere for a quarter of an hour, where you then live on some field that you also have to share with another team.
In the end, nobody gets anything out of it.”
TSV 1860: training camp as a basis for promotion?
Marcel Bär, a Dubai vacationer like his coach, sees the advantages rather than the disadvantages of Turkey's carefree package: "As a player, you always want to have the best possible conditions," says the striker: "In my career I've already experienced that Booked places were blocked or because other clubs were suddenly training.
That doesn't do us any good.
You don't even have to fly there, because in the end that's wasted money."

In general, Bär told all non-athletes, the point of a training camp should not be overestimated.
"You spend a lot of time together, sometimes discussing private issues - that can be balm for the soul." In addition, there are "many more training sessions than usual", other processes and meals together.
All in all, Bär believes, a successful training camp can decisively advance a team.
Just like last January, when the lions took off in sports after spending a few much-vaunted days in Turkey.
Vice-President Hans Sitzberger raved about the "spirit of Belek", who defeated Wehen Wiesbaden 3:2 despite being 2-0 down.
The key difference: the Geist von Belek was half price back then.
