Rugby: the League calls for new elections at the FFR after the conviction of Laporte


The LNR argues that the holding of new elections to the FFR would allow “to move forward calmly towards the major deadlines which present themselves to French rugby”.

In a press release published on Thursday, the National Rugby League (LNR) called for new elections to be held for the presidency of the French Rugby Federation (FFR), after Bernard Laporte was sentenced on Tuesday to a two-month suspended prison sentence in in connection with the bribery and influence peddling case with Mohed Altrad.


Faced with this unprecedented situation which is weakening the institution, and after consulting the presidents of Top 14 and Pro D2, the LNR Board considers that it is appropriate to bring appeasement back to French rugby through the organization. by the FFR new elections, as requested

by the Minister of Sports
