The volleyball team at VSG Isar-Loisach had to put up with two defeats when they started out weakened: Coach Dominik Hölzl's team lost 3-1 to Schwindegg and Unterhaching II
Schwindegg/Geretsried – Coach Dominik Hölzl from the VSG Isar-Loisach volleyball team had wished for two wins for his birthday on Saturday.
In the end, however, they only won two sets: the promoted district league team lost 3-1 to hosts SV Schwindegg and TSV Unterhaching II.
"I couldn't be angry with the girls because they played really well," said the coach in a forgiving manner.
However, the conditions were also precarious: Ulrike Leonhard was absent due to illness, so the entire burden was on Franziska Bernlochner's shoulders.
In addition, Ulrike Wiese had signed off injured, while Johanna Hofmann was not quite fit and is no longer available for the rest of the season.
Nevertheless, the VSG fought against Schwindegg in the first round with 26:24.
"The best sentence of the year," said Dominik Hölzl happily.
But the lack of consistency was ultimately the undoing of his protégés against the stable hosts: Schwindegg won the next rounds with 25:18, 25:6 and 25:13.
VSG also had a strong start against Unterhaching II and won 27:25.
However, the self-imposed pressure of wanting to win against the bottom of the table caused cramping: "The girls were mentally incapable of playing consistently over several sets or ticking off points," recognized the coach.
So he saw three more lost sets at 13:25, 23:25 and 7:25.
Hölzl quickly checked off the two renewed defeats.
"I have made my peace with this situation," emphasized the coach.
He was currently missing six women from the promotion team, some of them permanently, all of them top performers.
A reason for Hölzl to redefine the goal for the season: "Even if the position in the table is not a priority, we should definitely keep the current eighth place." However, it is more important for him that new leading players develop from the current team.
"The girls have to realize that each individual has to take on more responsibility - but without any pressure," stressed Hölzl.
The next district league match day will not take place until the new year on January 14 at TSV Turnerbund München IV;
second opponent is then the FTM Schwabing III.
