The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is coming to an end.
Meanwhile, the emirate is hoping for the next major event – the Summer Olympics.

In 2016 and 2020, the small golden state failed with its applications to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

At least that's the idea of the royal family, which governs the country with its approximately 2.7 million inhabitants in the style of an absolute monarchy.

“We showed our will and motivation to align it.
I think it's obvious," said World Cup boss Hassan al-Thawadi when asked about the Olympics.
Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has many connections.
The 42-year-old has been a member of the IOC since 2002.
When he was admitted at 21, the Qatari leader was the youngest member.
Qatar: Olympics 2036 on the Arabian Peninsula?
The goal: In 2036, the Olympics are to take place on the Arabian Peninsula, organized by Qatar alone or in partnership with other neighboring countries.
Not all of whom are politically well-disposed towards the emirate.
According to reports, the actual summer games could then be moved back to late autumn and/or winter, with air-conditioned stadiums and cooled down competition venues.

The list of sporting events is now long: the emirate hosted the Handball World Championships in 2015, the Cycling World Championships in 2016, the Gymnastics World Championships in 2018 and the Athletics World Championships in 2019. The Swimming World Championships will follow in 2024, and the Asia will be in 2030 - Matches played in the capital Doha.

However, the list of misconduct is probably long: Serious allegations were made in the context of the World Cup.
There was talk of human rights violations in the construction of infrastructure, of discrimination against women and persecution of same-sex couples in the kingdom.
Most recently, the corruption scandal surrounding the European Parliament (EU) caused a stir.
According to media reports, Qatar is also said to be involved in this.
