A great achievement for the women's goalball team.
After defeating the Canadian team today (Friday) with a score of 2:4, she won the bronze medal at the World Championship held in Portugal.
At halftime the score was 1:1.
Despite her injury, Lihya Ben David joined the game, scored three goals and was chosen as the outstanding player of the game.
Another goal was scored by Uri Mizrahi.
The team, made up of players from Beit HaLochem Tel Aviv and branches of a school for the blind, includes the captain Gal Hamrani, and Ilham Makhamid, Lihya Ben David, Roni Ohion, Uri Mizrahi and Noa Malka.
An integral part of the team are the two guide dogs, Gal's Dylan and Ronnie's Rudy.
The coach is Raz Shoham, the assistant coaches - Eran Reik and Nizar Mahagana.
Shoham said: "We arrived focused, we knew exactly what we wanted, we aimed for the decisive stages with rests for the leading players. We arrived at every game with video data and numbers about the other team. We won 9 out of 10 games, most of which were decisive."
Lihya Ben David: "The road to the World Championship ended successfully, many people and organizations were partners in the road. The campaign had many successes as well as disappointments. This competition was also successful with an achievement for the State of Israel in the field of ball in women's sports.
"The task is not completed, we are looking ahead and intend to get the ticket to Paris 2024 in the next competition. I have the right to be a player in the Israeli national team and fulfill my duty to the country."
