ESC Dorfen welcomes ESC Geretsried tonight at 8 p.m. at their home Dr. Rudolf Stadium for the only game this weekend.
Dorfen – The Ice Pirates are hoping to move towards mid-table with the Riverrats within striking distance.
The Geretsrieders got off to a bad start and parted ways with their coach Stefan Roth at the end of October after only picking up two points in six matches.
From November onwards, Hans Tauber took over the coaching of the Isartalers, who added 23 more points to their successful account from the 13 following players.
Geretsried is currently in tenth place with 25 points - only four points more than twelfth-placed Dorfen, who is even two games behind.
Last weekend, with a 4:3 overtime win in Kempten and a 7:0 home win against EV Pegnitz, the Tauber team created a good basis for jumping to eighth place, which is four points short.
In terms of breadth, the Riverrats are always well positioned.
The goalkeepers alone around 38-year-old Martin Morczinietz, women's select player Johanna May and Maximilian Freytag provide good support.
The defense has been strengthened for this season with the Czech Jakub Rezac, and in attack the 31-year-old Czech Ondrej Horvath, who has recently harmonized particularly well with Benedikt May, is a strong director and goalscorer.
In the first leg, the Eispiraten had wrested a point from the Isartalers at 3:4 after extra time.
The people of Isenstadt led 2:0 after the first period, were then 2:3 behind, but were able to equalize shortly before the end with a double majority.
A close exchange of blows can be expected again tonight.
At the beginning of the week, Dorfen's goalscorer Christof Hradek was suffering from a cold and is a question mark today.
Defender Florian Fischer is slightly injured from last weekend.
Sports director Hans Ertl hopes that the injured players can play.
give yesterday's final training.
For ESC trainer Franz Steer it is clear: "If we want to finish eighth, then we have to step up now."
