A weakened EC Peiting won the Oberliga game at ECDC Memmingen - despite a botched start.
Coach Anton Saal highlighted two players.
Memmingen – Felix Brassard scored three goals for EC Peiting, including the decisive penalty in the 4-3 win at ECDC Memmingen.
After the end, however, goalkeeper Konrad Fiedler was named “Man of the Match” on the part of the guests.
And that was definitely the right choice, because the youngster made the win possible with his saves throughout the game.

ECP coach Anton Saal also mentioned both players in his statement at the press conference after the game – which is rather unusual.
Because he doesn't like to talk about individual actors.
In this case it was a good fit.
Saal was also satisfied with the team.
In the game, “we always found a suitable answer”.
Memmingen was ahead three times, the ECP came back three times.
The conditions on Friday evening were not the best for Peiting, because five important players were missing (Marc Besl, Sam Payeur, Lukas Gohlke, Markus Czogallik, Ryan Boucher).
And then this botched start: after 53 seconds the puck was already in the net behind Fiedler.
Marcus Marsall converted Andrew Johnston's cross pass to make it 1-0.

The "Indians" then continued to fire on the Peitinger Tor.
In the middle of the attacking whirlwind, the guests started a counter-move that hit the spot: Brassard smashed the disc into the top corner to make it 1-1 (4').
With this result we went into the third break - a good result from Peitinger's point of view.
Because after the equalizer, Memminger again determined the events, the shot statistics showed a 14:2 lead of the "Indians".
The post saved Christopher Kasten's solo (14').
Otherwise, Fiedler was there when it had to be, as in the first shorthand situation (18th), he even threw himself on the puck.

In the middle third - the ECP had to start outnumbered - it only took a few seconds for an "Indians" goal: Linus Svedlund took a shot from the blue line - the score was 2:1.
A little later, Fiedler made a great save against Johnston (23rd).
As a result, the people from Peiting managed to disrupt the flow of the game in Memmingen.
And the guests provided accents on the offensive themselves.
It was defender Fabian Weyrich who scored the 2-2 equalizer with a shot from near the blue line (30').
Immediately afterwards, Peiting failed twice free-standing (32nd), whereby ECDC keeper Marco Eisenhut reacted strongly.
The “Indians” were awarded a penalty after Johnston went it alone, but Fiedler made a confident save (34').
Peiting had a few more chances (37th), but it was a draw.

In the final third, the Peitingers survived two manpower situations at the beginning, also because Fiedler continued to act excellently.
The Memmingers used the third power play in this period to take a 3-2 lead through Petr Pohl (49th).
An extremely unfortunate goal from the Peitinger point of view, as they had already fought for the target, but then lost it due to a bad pass.
The ECP was not discouraged and was waiting for its chance.
Once again Brassard showed his goal threat - from a tight angle he outwitted Eisenhut to 3:3 (55th).
Immediately afterwards, Peiting was outnumbered (56th).
33 seconds before the end, the ECP came out on top - but they didn't score.

In overtime, the Peitinger recorded numerous shots with a man more on the ice by Brassard and Andreas Feuerecker, but Eisenhut could not be defeated.
On the other side, Fiedler first saved against Pohl and then against Svedlund.
It went to the penalty shootout: Peiting's Brassard was the only player to score.
On Sunday, Peitinger will meet SC Riessersee in the derby at home.
