There is only one game day on the program this weekend in the Bavarian ice hockey league, namely this Friday.

Erding – The Erding Gladiators are expecting tail light EC Pfaffenhofen in their home hall at 8 p.m. – and there is a reunion with an old friend.

The Pfaffenhofeners have had Stefan Teufel on the gang for two weeks, who was active as a trainer for the youngsters in Erding for many years.

He celebrated a debut 4-1 win in Schweinfurt with the Eishogs.

"They had organized a nice party, 2000 spectators were there, and they ran right into the open knife," says the ECP trainer with a grin.

After that there were defeats in Amberg (1:6) and Miesbach (2:6) as well as against Dorfen (2:4), "but we played very good ice hockey there".

The distribution of roles is clear to him: "We are blatant outsiders." It doesn't look ideal in terms of personnel, "but if I get two licensed players from Ingolstadt, then I'll get three rows together," reports Teufel, who only has one foreigner available after Canadian Bailey Morissette asked to end his contract.

His compatriot still plays in Pfaffenhofen, namely Tom Callaghan, who stormed for the Gladiators last season.

"We just want to make the best of it," says Teufel, "and of course we'll try everything to win the game."

"We will certainly not underestimate the Paffenhofen team," promises Erding's team manager Felix Schütz.

"But of course we definitely want the three points." Training was good this week.

"The priority is that we get better in the system," says Schütz, "that also means better in numbers".

As for his roster, there are no changes when it comes to outfield players.

Sebastian Busch and Elias Maier are still missing injured, licensed players from Landshut cannot be released, but boys from their own U20 are available.

The goalkeeper issue has not yet been resolved.

"Thomas Hingel wasn't able to train all week, Christoph Schedlbauer is ailing," says the Gladiators team boss, but there is still the third, young keeper.

"Patrick Mayer is ready in any case."
