Not in the mood for the final: Why are my children boycotting the World Cup?

There are chips, they can stay up late - and yet the little ones don't want to watch games. What's going on there?

Bored children: Sow curiosity and reap indifference

I tried it first with a motivating tone.

Hey, it's the World Cup, you can go to bed late.

There are cucumber snacks and chips!

But my kids didn't want to.

They sat down in the living room for 20 minutes, probably out of pity on me, for a preliminary round.

Wales vs England.

Then they started reading the players' shirt numbers out loud.

At some point I said: either you count quietly or you go outside.

I don't understand why they aren't interested in the World Cup even if they're allowed to stay up until 10 p.m. to watch TV.

Our daughter is eight and our son will soon be six.

We watch a film with them once a week, sometimes nothing.

Yes, we are such exhausting parents.

They are not allowed to drink cola.

I always thought that you have to upset the little ones as early as possible so that they later have an issue against which they can rebel.

They should evolve into critical beings.

But not so critical.

Fifteen minutes later my son called out: "Dad, that's fucking boring." I called out: You don't say boring!

Apparently he hadn't understood what a World Cup is for: so that his father can explain to him who's playing well, who's not and what could have been done better in the line-up.

I wanted to sow curiosity and I reaped indifference.

my soul is bleeding

life is cruel

Luckily the tournament will be over soon.
