SpVgg Freising: reconstruction with many question marks

The last Bayernliga fight for the time being will take place on Saturday.

- "That's absolutely not satisfactory" - that's the unsurprising conclusion of the season from Christian Hennerfeind, Deputy Chairman of SpVgg Freising.

Even before the last day of the fight on Saturday (7.30 p.m., sports hall Luitpoldanlage) against SV Mietraching, the relegation of the wrestlers from the Bavarian to the state league is certain.

"I never expected that.

Ultimately, however, we on the Executive Board are not entirely innocent.”

The license posse around the Romanian star Norbert Molnos, who was only allowed to play in the second half of the season due to coordination errors, was one of the factors: "With him we would certainly have won one or the other fight in the preliminary round - and wouldn't even have been in this one The situation has come,” says Vice-Chairman Hennerfeind.

Difficult position for the junior staff

However, he does not only draw negative things from the messed-up league round: “I liked our youngsters in the lower weight classes – despite their defeats.

They fought and always gave their all.” Johan Mitzscherling, Lukas Pausch and Jonah Anke would certainly have made a step forward over the course of the season.

In the Bayernliga, however, they usually had to deal with established opponents and were therefore often without a chance.

Hennerfeind: "Perhaps the state league isn't so bad for them.

Especially since they always have two fights per encounter there.”

However, the vice chairman was not enthusiastic about the experienced athletes: "The necessary performance was often simply lacking.

We would have expected more." And further: "All in all, you have to say that the performance was ultimately just not enough for the Bayernliga."

Christian Hennerfeind wants to make one thing clear before going into the state league: “Relegations often take place because clubs are in financial problems.

But that is by no means the case with us, and we must now look to the future.”

Hennerfeind: "We have to overcome a small hole."

A reconstruction is pending at the SpVgg.

The only question is with which squad the Freisinger can contest this.

Some of the older athletes have already stated that they no longer want to wrestle, or not as often, reports Hennerfeind.

"And that's why I don't think we'll have a better squad available for the next round."

The 2nd chairman is pleased that almost 20 children and young people are coming to the training.

"But until they are ready, we have to overcome a small hole," he fears.

Whether Starringer Molnos will be there next season is questionable.

The Freisingers hadn't given up hope, and Hennerfeind emphasized: "He's one of those wrestlers who show how great our sport can be." Another is coach Csongor Knipli, who often didn't have an opponent in front of him.

Now it is important to bring the season to a reasonable end.

Preferably with a strong home performance against Mietraching.
