EC Peiting and SC Riessersee fought an intense Oberliga derby on Sunday evening.

A first goal put the hosts on the road to victory.

Peiting – Quirin Spies led the EC Peiting team on the lap of honor.

The 20-year-old deserved it, because with his goal to make it 4:3 (57 th ) - his first goal ever with the professionals - he put the ECP on the road to victory in the Oberliga derby on Sunday evening against SC Riessersee.

When the team left the ice, the fans then clamored for Marco Habermann to come back for an extra cheer.

Habermann had shown numerous strong actions in the game and scored two goals, including the empty-net hit to make it 5:3.

Peiting deserved the win, said SCR trainer Pat Cortina at the press conference.

His team's performance "was okay".

However, Cortina also saw: "Every mistake was a goal conceded.

We have to learn from that." Peiting's team manager Ty Morris was visibly satisfied: "Hats off to the team."

Peiting wins the derby against Riessersee 5:3

The game started – as on Friday in Memmingen – with a goal conceded in the first minute, which was extremely unfavorable for EC Peiting.

"It will probably be a trend for us," said team manager Morris ironically.

After a face-off, Riessersee's Sam Verelst made it 1-0 with a backhand flick (1st minute).

After this setback, "we came back well," said Morris.

The people from Peiting even went into the first break with a 2-1 lead because they acted cleverly.

Before the 1:1 (11th), David Diebolder brought the disc in the direction of the goal from the outside with verve.

The puck deflected off a visiting player's stick and then Felix Brassard's stick into the net.

Later, the ECP took advantage of its first majority game: an action by Louis Postel and David Miller led to a rebound, which Habermann converted to 2:1 in the blink of an eye (19th).

The first Peitinger manpower led to the Riesserseer 2:2 (24 th ), whereby Verelst's backhand flick was unluckily deflected from the ECP point of view.

After that, the Riesserseer came to several good offensive actions.

Lubor Dibelka hit the goal post twice (28', 33').

Towards the end of the third, the people from Peiting came into their own again.

Shortly after the end of a power play, the ECP managed to lead 3:2 (38th).

Once again it was Brassard who positioned himself in front of the goal and pushed the puck over the line.

In the final third, the Riesserseer started powerfully.

Dibelka and Felix Linden each failed from close range.

A controversial penalty against Sean Morgan resulted in Peitinger being outnumbered.

The ECP survived, also because he was lucky that the referees had already blown the whistle when Fiedler's puck slipped under the schooner.

A moment of shock immediately followed: Riessersee's Linden had to be brought off the ice after colliding with the post of the ECP goal (48').

How severe his injury is was still unclear immediately after the end of the game.

Habermann makes everything clear with empty-net-goal

After the involuntary interruption, things went back and forth at high speed.

Brassard failed outnumbered with a break (49th), and the SCR also missed after going it alone (51st).

Once again, the guests hit the bar.

With a pawn trick variant, Alexander Höller scored the 3:3 equalizer (55th).

The hosts then bravely continued to play - and were rewarded: Quirin Spies made it 4:3 (58th).

It remained exciting: Riessersee's Soudek failed narrowly, the guests tried it with six field players.

Habermann finally made the decision with the empty net goal to 5:3.
