Party after World Cup final

"I still can not believe it",

After the World Cup thriller, thousands of Argentinians celebrate wild parties on the streets.

Drone footage shows huge crowds in Messi's home country.

They're celebrating their heroes on the other side of the world: Thousands of football fans have gathered in Rosario, the hometown of Lionel Messi, to celebrate Argentina's final victory over France.

Also in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, the Plaza de la Republica was transformed into a big party mile.

Valentine, football fan

I still can not believe it.

I am very happy.

Messi has long deserved it.

I thank the team.

I thank the team for their commitment.

It's crazy, look at this.

It's the first time I've experienced this.

The world champions themselves celebrated extensively in Qatar after winning the thriller from the penalty spot on Sunday evening at a parade in the capital Doha.

Behind the scenes of this soccer World Cup, many people experienced a less than glamorous World Cup experience.

Around 20,000 migrant workers have worked on World Cup construction sites in Qatar in recent years - without them none of the major construction projects could have been realized.

Most of them come from poorer countries like India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Uganda.

Many of them can watch the World Cup final together in a cricket stadium on the big screen.

Alex, guest worker from Uganda

The problem is: we're only workers here and it's too expensive to go to the main stadium, so here we are.

The government has done well, we just watch for free.

According to official figures, 400-500 people died during the construction of the World Cup stadiums, according to research by the British Guardian there were several thousand dead.

Since the deaths became known, the country has announced that it is seeking labor market reforms.

It remains to be seen how sustainable these efforts will actually be after the World Cup.
