FC Bayern Munich will apparently be handing over their chief scout Pirmin Schwegler to TSG Hoffenheim this winter.

The Swiss was even captain there.

Munich – In every transfer period, the sports directors and board members are the focus when a new player is to be signed.

There is much more to a transfer than the final signing of the contract, months of scouting are often necessary to get an overall picture of an actor.

FC Bayern now has to cope with a departure in its own scouting department, a chief scout is apparently leaving Munich this winter.

Pirmin Schwegler

Born: March 09, 1987 in Ettiswil (Switzerland)

Bundesliga stations: Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, TSG Hoffenheim, Hannover 96

Scout at FC Bayern since: November 2020

Future club: TSG Hoffenheim

FC Bayern: chief scout Pirmin Schwegler is apparently Bundesliga sports director

In November 2020, long-standing Bundesliga professional Pirmin Schwegler joined the German record champions.

Through contact with Marco Neppe, FC Bayern's technical director, the Swiss was hired as a scout after retiring from Australia.

Just eight months after taking office, the 35-year-old was appointed chief scout from July 2021.

As the kicker now reports, former Swiss national players are now changing clubs and should have even more responsibility in the future.

At his former club TSG Hoffenheim, for which Schwegler played between 2014 and 2017 and even wore the captain's armband at times, he is to take on the position of sports director in the future.

According to the report, the former midfielder will be settled under Hoffenheim manager Alexander Rosen.

FC Bayern loses chief scout: Pirmin Schwegler leaves Munich in January

According to a report by Sky, Schwegler's move to the Kraichgau will take place this winter, and the new job should start in January.

The Bundesliga player, who has played 262 times, was immediately observed and watched Hoffenheim's 3-2 friendly win over TSV 1860 Munich last Saturday.

Schwegler's contacts in the Bundesliga and in Switzerland are certainly conducive to a job as an official at TSG.

The 14-time national team player played in his home country for FC Luzern and Young Boys Bern, in Germany he played most games for Eintracht Frankfurt, he also played for TSG Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen and Hannover 96 before he ended his career at Western Sydney Wanderers.

FC Bayern already has a new chief scout - Hoffenheim as a stepping stone for Schwegler?

So within two and a half years, Schwegler worked his way up from a job as a scout at FC Bayern to sports director of a Bundesliga club.

He should be aware that Hoffenheim could be a springboard for higher tasks.

A good and approachable example is probably Julian Nagelsmann, under whom Schwegler played 18 competitive games, became head coach at RB Leipzig and is now in charge of fortunes at Munich.

Bayern will not have to look for a replacement for Schwegler, or at least not immediately. In addition to Schwegler, Markus Pilawa is also on the Munich payroll as chief scout.

The former BVB chief scout was only recruited by the black and yellow in September last year.
