The Israel arena championship in swimming in short pools started today (Monday) at the Wingate Institute, with a lot of records and fast results, first of all two Israeli records for Anastasia Gorbenko.
The 19-year-old swimmer opened with a victory and a record in the 200 back, when she set 2:04.40 and improved her record from last year by 96 hundredths.
She was ahead of the record holder in the long pool Aviv Barzli, who set 2:08.79 minutes and 17-year-old Thom Minnis, who set 2:13.22 minutes.
Gorbenko broke her second record tonight in the 50 free, when she jumped first in the 4x50 free relay and stopped the clocks at 24.46 seconds, 7 hundredths faster than her record from two years ago.
In the men's 200 backstroke, a particularly fast result was recorded by David Gerchik, who won with a tremendous personal record of 1:51.18 minutes, the third best result in the history of Israel in the breaststroke.
He preceded Inbar Danziger and Adam Maraena on the podium.

Martin Kartabi set an Israeli record for youth in the 50 freestyle with 21.70 seconds, equal to Israel's fourth best result of all time;
Ina Goland set an Israeli record for 15-year-olds in the same stroke with 25.31 seconds, Daniel Dervatsov set an Israeli record for 16-year-olds in the 100 butterfly with 53.75 seconds and Okan Goldin set an Israeli record for 15- and 16-year-olds in the 200 backstroke with 1:56.03 minutes.
In the 100 butterfly, Gal Cohen Groumi won for the second year in a row with 51.06 seconds, for the women it was a particularly close battle with 15 hundredths separating the first from the fourth - Mai Levy was the one who was crowned the champion of Israel with 1:01.32 d, 6 hundredths ahead of Raz Harel And 14 hundredths before there is no Goland.
In the 400 free, Denis Loktev won with 3:44.88 d, despite a tremendous finish by Yoav Romano who settled for silver with a personal record of 3:45.19 d.
Matan Roditi won bronze with his own personal record, 3:46.56 minutes.
In the women's 400, Omer Schurtz won with 4:14.13 minutes.
In the women's 50 breast, Neta Usishkin won with 32.11, ahead of Marcy Ann Najira with 33.02 seconds and Shira Gamlei with 34.25 seconds.
We got another record in the relay, when the Hapoel Bat Yam swimmers broke a youth record with 1:43.87 minutes, in the composition of Daria Golovati, Becky Pozdner, Ofek Adir and Yuval Segal.
Maccabi Haifa won the silver and Maccabi Rashalz won the bronze. In the men's category, the quartet of Hapoel Dolphin Netanya with Kartavi, Gal Shelgal, Yonatan Molchanov and Michal Leitrovski won, ahead of Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Jerusalem.
