Doha - what a game!

Argentina and France fought an epic duel in the World Cup final.

For a long time it looked like an unchallenged victory for the Albiceleste, Lionel Messi (13th) and Angel di Maria (36th) had given the South Americans a 2-0 lead before the break.

Little came from France until the final phase.

Then Kylian Mbappé finally ignited - and made it 2-2 in less than 100 seconds (80th, 81st).

In extra time, this endgame wrote even more madness chapters.

With a 3:3 penalty shoot-out, which the Argentines ultimately won.

We summarize the voices surrounding the finale here.

Emiliano Martinez (goalkeeper Argentina) after the game over...

... the finale: "We suffered.

At first we controlled the game, but then we gave it up.

Then the 3:2, then another penalty.

Thank god we made it after all.

It was an unbelievable finale, I would never have dreamed of it.

I have no words."

... the penalty shoot-out: "I always think of the team.

I know I have to parry.

I did what I could."

... the dedication of the title: "First and foremost, I dedicate this victory to my family.

I come from a very simple family, went to England very young.

I thank my family for the support.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger (ARD expert) after the game over ...

... the game: “I was happy that the French took part from the 80th minute.

But that was incredible from Argentina.

A monster performance to come back here again.”
