The Israel arena short course swimming championships continued this evening (Wednesday) at the Wingate Institute and set two more Israeli records, including a tremendous Israeli record by Matan Roditi in the 800 freestyle.
The swimmer from Bnei Herzliya set 7:49.29 minutes and smashed the previous record of Guy Moskovich from 2015 by more than seven seconds.
He was followed with an Israeli record for youth by Yoav Romano, who set 7:52.79 minutes and third Yonatan Ehadot with 8:02.80 minutes.
The second Israeli record of the day was signed by Maccabi Haifa's 50x4 medley relay quartet, with David Gerchik, Ron Polonsky, Greg Lichinsky and Miron Haruti, which set 1:34.50 and broke the previous record set by the team at the European Championships in Kazan last year by exactly one second .
In the 100 backstroke, it was Anastasia Gorbenko who recorded another victory, with 57.57 seconds, only 12 hundredths of the Israeli record, ahead of Marcy Ann Najira and Mayan Lebkovic, while in the men's category, Yaakov Tomarkin, who shortly after returning from the World Championships, won with 51.31 Seconds, in front of Adam Maraena and David Gerchik.
Okan Goldin broke an Israeli record for the age of 15-16 with 53.94 seconds.
Another swimmer who returned from the World Championships straight to the Israeli Championships was Miron Haruti, who won the 50 freestyle with 21.38 seconds.
After him, Martin Kartabi set an Israeli youth record and won silver with 21.68 seconds and Greg Lichinsky in bronze.
In the women's category, Daria Golovati won with 25.09 seconds, while the silver was won by Ina Goland with an Israeli record for 15-year-olds of 25.21 seconds and Hadar Krep in bronze.
