The U12 of the Chess Club Freising convinces at the team championship of the district youth.

At the end the silver medal jumps out.

Freising – Since mid-October, the U12s of the Chess Club Freising have been battling against ten other teams from the Ingolstadt/Freising chess district for the district youth team championship.

The showdown of the youngest tournament players in the district took place in December at the Moosburg chess club.

The last three rounds of the U12 district team championship took place there.

The youngsters from Freising were in a promising second place with three rounds to play before this last match day.

The team led by Lotta Schwarzer, Jakob Hönle, Levin Khaki, Konrad Berger and Alper Özkurt was therefore highly motivated at the start.

In the first round, Friedrichshofen was a strong opponent.

Hönle quickly put Freisinger ahead 1-0.

However, his teammates had to admit defeat to their opponents, so that the duel ultimately ended 3:1 for Friedrichshofen.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In round two, the Domstadt team played against the tournament favorites from Neuburg, who have won all of their games so far.

The Freisingers could not stop this trend and clearly lost 0:4.

The game against SC Beilngries was decisive in the last round – Freising had to win to defend second place.

Hönle was able to make it 1-0 again, making him the best Freisinger player.

Konrad Berger made it 2-0, before Lotta Schwarzer made it 3-0 and thus made second place clear.

Alper Özkurt subsequently lost his match, but that could not dampen the Freising jubilation.

The team from Neuburg was finally district champion, the MTV Ingolstadt took third place.
