For Fallon Sherrock, Beau Greaves and Lisa Ashton, the Darts World Championship will be over before Christmas.

Sherrock was the last of this trio of women to be eliminated in the first round.

The "Queen of the Palace" lost 1:3 against her English compatriot Ricky Evans.

After the difficult victory, he enthused about the 28-year-old: “I knew it would be tough.

she is so good

Fallon was the better player.

I got away with it, I'm happy with that," Evans said late Tuesday night.

Ashton (2:3 against Ryan Meikle) and women's world champion Greaves (0:3 against William O'Connor) had already been eliminated in the first round.

Sherrock, who was the first woman to win a match at the 2020 World Cup and then made it to the third round, initially took the lead, but kept missing the doubles and did not manage to win the third set when the score was 1-1 to decide.

Despite a 2-0 lead, she gave up the fourth round and lost the match.

Opponent Evans then accused the fans of "sexism" in a strange way and combined the accusation with a poisoned compliment to Sherrock: "The audience doesn't even realize how good she is.

I feel sorry for her.

The crowd just cheers for her because she's a woman," said Evans, who is known as "Rapid" in the darts scene.

Evans himself had misconducted himself on stage by making a seemingly obscene gesture after winning the third set.

After the end of the match, the Englishman went to the referees and explained himself.

»Barney« wins and meets the world number one

The five-time title holder Raymond van Barneveld, on the other hand, successfully mastered his first hurdle at the Darts World Championship in London.

The 55-year-old Dutchman won 3-1 against Ryan Meikle from England and now meets world number one and ex-world champion Gerwyn Price (Wales) in the third round.

In the run-up to the World Cup, »Barney« had defeated Price several times.

"I respect Gerwyn a lot, but I believe in myself," said van Barneveld, who is making his 30th appearance at a World Cup: "I'm playing well and I can't wait to play the number one in the world."
