The SuperG was too risky for her.

Nevertheless, the woman from Wartenberg drove back from the Aosta Valley with three medals.

– Sometimes you just have to say no.

Like seven other drivers, Christiane Santen canceled her start at the Super G in Pila/Italy.

Lots of fresh snow, poor visibility, a starting slope that was quickly set and a rapid target section - "For me as a technician, that was too dangerous," says the 52-year-old.

"Especially since I haven't had any Super-G training this year."

Nevertheless, the woman from Wartenberg returned richly hung from the Aosta Valley.

Finally, there were three giant slalom runs in the World Cup Masters series, which she finished fourth, third and second in her age group.

But the highlight of her Aosta Valley days was to be the slalom.

Among the eight registered starters were Debora Marchesoni (Italy) and Deborah Adams (USA), as well as the extremely strong Spaniard Judith Lluent, who injured herself while warming up.

Santen went first, hitting a perfect run through the 47 goals and opening up a seven-tenth lead over Adams.

"Before the second round I was super nervous," admitted the woman from Wartenberg.

"I was the last to be the fastest and saw how Deborah Adams drove really well in front of me."

But Santen also mastered the course and the 140 meters in altitude very well.

She even extended her lead to 1.4 seconds and thus claimed her fourth slalom victory in a row in her age group.

In the overall field of all 35 Master drivers, she came sixth.

After Christmas we go to the training camp: practice a little Super G.
