Anastasia Menzel, a student from Eching, is one of the world leaders in jazz and modern dance.

At the World Championships in Podcetrtek, Slovenia, the 16-year-old cleaned up again.

Eching - She is only 16 years old and already multiple world and European champions in jazz and modern dance - the Echinger secondary school student Anastasia Menzel.

At the beginning of December, she was able to add two more podium places to her collection of titles on the international dance floor: In Podcetrtek, Slovenia, where the best soloists and groups in jazz, modern dance and ballet recently danced for the respective world championship titles, Anastasia won gold and bronze for the German team.

SC Eching: With ambition, talent, discipline and a lot of hard training, Anastasia Menzel makes it to the top of the world

In the Jazz Solo category, she made it to the final among 39 starters, where she prevailed against her five fellow competitors and won.

But this should not remain the only top ranking.

With a sovereign performance, she also danced her way to third place among the 43 soloists who competed in the Solo Contemporary category.

Natalya Menzel, Anastasia's mother and trainer in personal union, was amazed at the extremely high level of the performances.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Anastasia Menzel started dancing at the age of six and competed in her first competition.

With the necessary mixture of ambition, talent, discipline and a lot of hard training, especially in the difficult Corona years 2020/21, she was able to establish herself among the best in the world.

Her mother has proudly attested to her great development – and she should know.

During the two-minute choreographies, the young dancer is fully focused and tense from the tips of her feet to the tips of her hair.

“Although I've been taking part in tournaments for ten years, nervousness always plays a role.

But as soon as you get on the dance floor, it's gone.

I'm having fun and enjoying the moment,” Anastasia explains her emotional world before and during a performance.

Technique, expression and charisma: With this, the 16-year-old Echinger student Anastasia Menzel was able to convince at the World Championships in Slovenia and secured two podium places.

SC Eching: Menzel will compete with the adults in the future – colleagues Shamray and Broska are also convincing

The special attention of the adjudicators is on the one hand on a clean, precise technique in the movements and on the other hand on the overall expression, image or charisma.

How the dancers manage to “translate” the music into movement also plays a role.

The student was able to score both with the choreo "She" in jazz dance and with the piece "The Violin" in modern contemporary.

The coherent and successful choice of the costume proved to be a real coup for the latter, because it was modeled on a violin.

While her classmates were able to celebrate the first Advent, Anastasia Menzel and the other qualified starters from SC Eching had to drive to Podcetrtek, more than 500 kilometers away.

The competition, which was originally supposed to take place in Egypt, was relocated to this spa town on the border with Croatia, which is known for its thermal baths, at relatively short notice.

But the strenuous foreign assignment has paid off for the Echinger and her teammates - once again.

"To end my last year as a junior like this is a nice conclusion," sums up Menzel, who will be competing in the adult class next year.

"I'm super happy and satisfied with all the results."
