Linus Straßer is having a perfect week.

The Munich ski lion becomes a father for the first time and only a few days later races onto the podium in the slalom.

Madonna di Campiglio – Dad for the first time in his life, on the podium for the first time this winter sports season: Linus Straßer made his baby luck perfect with third place in the night slalom in Madonna di Campiglio.

Only a few days ago his daughter saw the light of day.

Linus Strasser

Born: November 6, 1992 (age 30), Munich

Height: 1.83 m

World Championship debut: October 27, 2013

Greatest successes: Olympic silver in the Beijing 2022 team, three World Cup victories

First baby luck, then podium: ski lion Linus Straßer in seventh heaven

"Welcome, little mouse," Linus Straßer wrote on Instagram at the beginning of the week, posting a heart and the hashtag "happydad".

The accompanying photo shows an overjoyed father with his newborn in his arms.

Among the well-wishers were the ski racers Manuel Feller, Clement Noel, Lucas Braathen and the DSV colleagues Kira Weidle, Andreas Sander, Dominik Schwaiger and Josef Ferstl.

Just a few weeks ago, Straßer announced that he was going to be a father.

The birth of the daughter obviously inspired Straßer in Madonna.

Almost two weeks earlier, in the first slalom of the season in Val d'Isere, France, the ski lion from TSV 1860 Munich had only finished 13th.

However, his head, which is so important in slalom, was not really in the matter.

"The child is doing very, very well," said Straßer of the

Süddeutsche Zeitung

before the race in Madonna.

However, the past few weeks have not been “so easy” because he was “always on call for the birth”, “it wasn’t easy to focus fully on skiing at the time.”

Linus Straßer races onto the podium - a few days after the birth of his daughter

For the 30-year-old, who won the last night slalom in Schladming in January, it was the ninth podium finish in a World Cup individual race in his career.

At the finish, Straßer was 0.18 seconds behind Swiss winner Daniel Yule.

Second was the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen (+0.08 seconds).

Kristoffersen's compatriot Lucas Braathen, who won the first slalom of the season in Val d'Isère, France, fell back from first to fourth place in the second round.

The slalom course in Madonna di Campiglio is considered one of the most demanding on the Alpine World Cup calendar.

The slope gradient is up to 70 percent.

Straßer showed two strong runs.

It was an "incredible race," he said.

"Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to win." But third place also feels "incredibly nice".

Linus Straßer: Fast home to the family after the night slalom

"I don't know when I was so proud of myself last time, it's unbelievably beautiful," said the Munich rider after his hussar ride on third place on the Miramonti slope and cheerfully added: "I'm looking forward to the quiet days now at home with wife and baby.”

That same night, Straßer drove a good 300 kilometers from Madonna di Campiglio in Trentino to Kirchberg in Tirol.

The new father wanted to go home to Mrs. Maria and their little daughter, who was only a few days old, as quickly as possible.

The next offspring is already on the way, a winter sports dream couple is having a child.
