Sad news.
Willie Sims, the former basketball player who starred in Israel in the past, passed away today (Friday) at the age of 64.
Sims had a heart attack in August and has since been hospitalized in serious condition in the hospital where he is unconscious.
Sims was not feeling well and because of this he was rushed to the hospital so that the doctors could treat him and stabilize his medical condition.
The former player played for many years in Israel, including five seasons in Maccabi Tel Aviv, and also moved to Hapoel Tel Aviv, starred in Elizur Netanya and other teams.
He settled in Israel and since then retired from active playing in 1998, served as the director of a basketball school, and in recent years worked as a fitness trainer.
His daughter Daniel is married to the captain of the Israeli national team Gal Mekel.
In those difficult days Mekel shared his feelings: "The situation is not easy.
I won't go into medical details but the situation is not good.
We stand by his bed and pray.
