When looking for a replacement for the injured Samy Paré, the EA Schongau quickly found what they were looking for.

But there is also news from the trainers of the EAS.

Schongau

– It has been very quiet in the past few weeks in the Bayernliga when it comes to transfers.

This week, however, two teams became active.

ESC Kempten signed a new Canadian striker and EA Schongau also got reinforcements.

The obligation to replace the injured Samy Paré, announced by EAS team manager Martin Resch after the game against Pfaffenhofen last Sunday, was quickly put into practice.

Ryan Murphy only moved to Erding this season

Ryan Murphy was already training with the "Mammuts" on Tuesday.

“Ryan knows the league and we know him.

He knows where the goal is and he's also a very good fit for us personally," says Resch of the 25-year-old American, who scored 17 goals in 29 games for league rivals Amberg last season.

At the beginning of this season, Murphy moved to Erding.

He scored seven times in 15 games before an injury sidelined him.

The Erdingers therefore brought in former NHL player Tomas Plihal as a replacement, which would probably only have given Murphy a seat in the stands.

Promoted: Effective immediately, Markus Ratberger is the sole head coach.

Helmut Maucher continues to act as assistant coach.

The Schongauer may end the season with three foreigners

That's why the offer from EAS was just right for him, especially because he's healthy again in the meantime.

“In any case, he will stay until Samy is fit again.

But maybe we'll have three foreigners under contract in February," said Resch, who expressly thanked some private patrons who made Murphy's commitment possible in the first place.

Markus Ratberger is now the sole head coach

Something has also happened behind the gang at the “Mammuts” this week.

The interim coaching duo became a permanent one, albeit with different roles.

Helmut Maucher, who coached the team after Rainer Höfler's resignation, together with Markus Ratberger as an equal partner, resigns to the second rank.

Ratberger, who also has the necessary coaching license, is promoted to sole boss.

"We want to give a young coach a chance.

We also discussed this with the team, who fully support the decision,” reports Resch.

"In our current situation, this is the best solution, after all it has worked for the past few weeks," Resch continues.

Maucher can also live well with this decision: "The role as assistant coach suits me."

Murphy makes his debut against his former club Erding

He is looking forward to the next tasks, which are quite challenging.

This Friday (December 23) the "mammoths" have to go to Murphy's former club Erding (8 p.m.), the team of the hour in the Bayernliga.

The "Gladiators" have celebrated four clear wins in a row since signing Plihal, which improved them to sixth place.

"They are extremely strong and are currently cleaning everything up," is Maucher's assessment of the competitor for a place in the top eight.

"But we can also score in Erding if we make few mistakes and are stable on the defensive," Maucher sees EAS, who won the first leg 5:3, not without a chance.

Waldkraiburg has disappointed so far this season

A task that is much simpler on paper awaits the people of Schongau on Monday, Boxing Day, when EHC Waldkraiburg comes to Lechuferstraße (5 p.m.).

The fifths of the previous year, which were still highly traded before the season, are not going at all this season.

Despite a change of coach, the EHC is bobbing around with only five wins in 13th place in the Bayernliga.

"They always provide positive, but also negative surprises," says Maucher about the opponent, whom the "Mammuts" defeated 6-2 in the first leg away.

"But we shouldn't underestimate them.

80 percent isn't enough, we last saw that in the first two thirds against Pfaffenhofen," said Maucher.

He needs a concentrated performance and a win.

The EAS has an almost complete squad at its disposal for this purpose.

Simon Maucher has to fit professionally, the same may apply to the Friday game at Lubos Velebny.

But Jonas Lautenbacher and Daniel Holzmann are fit again.
