World Cup: after the intrusion on the field of Salt Bae, Fifa will harden the tone

2022-12-23T09:18:10.908Z

Present on the lawn of Lusail Stadium after Argentina's victory in the final, the famous Turkish restaurateur Salt Bae could see Fifa take action against him for his intrusion on the field.

FIFA regulations state that the World Cup trophy can only be touched by a very limited number of people.

But last Sunday, after Argentina's victory against France (3-3, 4-2 at TAB), a group of individuals entered the field to come and see the players but especially the trophy.

Among them, the famous Turkish restaurateur/butcher was able to lift the World Cup.

A scene that has not escaped social networks and which has caused a lot of reaction.

Salt Bae, a recognized personality in Qatar and nicknamed the butcher of the stars (he runs a meat restaurant in Doha), was very insistent with the Argentines to be able to touch the famous trophy.

Footage even shows him kissing the trophy, which in principle can only be touched by world champions, Fifa officials or heads of state.

Scenes for some quite embarrassing who do not have more at Fifa.

However, it was the federation that had invited him to the stands as a VIP during this World Cup, but that is no longer likely to happen.

Recovered by the non-compliance with the instructions it had given, Fifa will sanction it.

There is talk initially of stadium bans in major international competitions before possible larger prosecutions.

“After investigating the matter, Fifa is in the process of establishing how individuals gained unauthorized access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail Stadium on December 18.

Appropriate action will be taken internally,” a spokesperson told the BBC.
