The football legend, suffering from cancer, spends Christmas in the hospital, surrounded by his family.

It is a poignant message, shared in the evening.

Kely Cristina Nascimento, one of Pele's daughters, posted a photo of the Brazilian legend with cancer on Friday night in his hospital bed in Sao Paulo, captioned "one more night together."

“We are still there, in the fight and in the faith.

One more night together,” she wrote alongside the photo, posted to Instagram around 11 p.m. local time, where she hugs her bedridden 82-year-old father, only one side of whose face is visible.

On Wednesday, the Albert Einstein Hospital, where the only winner of three World Cups is, announced that his colon cancer was "progressing" and that he needed "greater care to treat kidney failure and heart."

A few minutes before the publication of this press release, two of Pelé's daughters, Kely Nascimento and Flavia Arantes, had announced on their Instagram accounts that their father would be spending Christmas in the hospital.

Many messages of support from the world of football

On Sunday, Kely posted a photo of Flavia massaging their father's left foot while he watched the World Cup final on TV.

After the match, the "futebol" icon congratulated the Argentinian Lionel Messi for his "deserved" coronation against France (3-3 after, 4-2 on pens). During this World Cup, he saw Neymar equal his record of goals with the Seleçao (77).

The man who many consider to be the greatest footballer of all time has received many messages of support since his hospitalization, in particular from French star Kylian Mbappé, who called for "praying for the King".

The Brazilian thanked him for his support.

Pelé had been admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital on November 29 for a reassessment of his chemotherapy treatment after a colon tumor was detected in September 2021.
