Argentina-France: Vieira denounces, in turn, the "stupid" gestures of Martinez

Present at a press conference, the French coach of Crystal Palace strongly criticized the attitude of the Argentinian goalkeeper after the final

Decidedly, Emiliano Martinez will be remembered after this World Cup.

After Argentina's victory over France in the final (3-3 ap 4-2 pens), the goalkeeper was photographed mimicking a gravelly gesture with the golden glove trophy rewarding the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Then, in Buenos Aires, during the Albiceleste victory parade, he held a doll whose face was covered with a photo of Kylian Mbappé, and again made equivocal gestures.

An attitude that does not have more to Patrick Vieira.

Present this Saturday at a press conference before the match against Fulham scheduled for Monday, the manager of Crystal Palace, himself world champion with France in 1998, considered that the celebrations of the Aston Villa goalkeeper were "stupid" and tarnished Argentina's victory in the World Cup final.

“Some of the images I saw of the goalkeeper spoil a bit what Argentina achieved at the World Cup,” he said before continuing: “I don't think they really needed of that.

Sometimes you can't control the actions taken out of emotion.

But it was a stupid move, I think, on Martinez's part.

Martinez also criticized by Emery and Souness

The Argentinian goalkeeper will return to his club in Birmingham next week, where his manager Unai Emery has announced he will speak to him about his controversial behavior.

“When you have a big emotion, sometimes it's hard to control it.

I will talk to him next week about some celebrations but I respect that he is currently in a national team shirt and when he is with us he will be our responsibility so we can talk about it,” explained the former PSG coach.

"I'll speak with him next week about some celebrations."

Former Liverpool midfielder and big name in Scottish football, Graeme Souness also strongly criticized 'Dibu' Martinez' attitude: "He shamed himself and his country.

He looked like a vulgar clown.

If that's why he wants to be remembered, then God help us all.

Bad times for the Argentinian goalkeeper.
