The long-standing Bundesliga coach Christoph Daum was moved by the good wishes for him after his cancer became known and, in his own words, is on the mend.
The 69-year-old made his illness public two months ago and explained that, among other things, he was receiving chemotherapy that was working.
In a post on Instagram on Saturday, Daum wished everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2023.
"At the same time, I would like to thank you for the countless encouraging and supportive words over the past few months.
They gave me strength and confidence and had an extremely positive effect on all treatments," wrote the former master coach of VfB Stuttgart, who was also in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Köln.
"I'm on the way to recovery," explained Daum and, as a New Year's message, once again called for cancer screening to be carried out.
At Express.de he added that the chemotherapy had shown a very good effect.
“It was intense and very high doses.
But fortunately I am otherwise in good health and was able to cope with it, "said Daum.
