The former goalkeeper decided not to try to be elected to the position a second time in the elections that will be held during the year 2023 • "We are starting to see fruits, I had the honor to be at the head of the industry"

Former goalkeeper and chairman of the tennis association Avi Peretz decided today (Sunday) not to continue for a second term in office.

The elections are scheduled to take place later this year.

Peretz was elected in July 2020 and he replaced Dr. Yoni Yarom, who held the position for the past three years. Peretz is remembered for his two terms in Hapoel Haifa, with which he won the only championship in its history (1998/99). Even before that, he lifted a trophy together with Hapoel BS (1997).

Later he moved to Maccabi Haifa to cover the absence of Nir Davidovich who was injured.

Peretz won the championship with the Greens in 2000/01 and was even called to the national team - but had to give it up due to an injury.

In the summer of 2001 he returned to Hapoel Haifa and later in his career moved to several teams, among others Beitar Jerusalem and Maccabi Netanya.

In the years he served as chairman of the industry, several events took place in Israel, including the Davis Cup matches and the ATP tournament at the Expo in Tel Aviv.

Avi Peretz: "I had the honor and the privilege to head an industry with a tremendous tradition and history. I am proud of the achievements and the seeds we have sown. We are already beginning to see fruits and I am sure that in the future more fruits will ripen. The steering wheel today is in a positive direction and I am sure that the quality union team that exists will continue to carry out and produce Let's implement all the projects. I don't want to conclude the term because we have a few more months ahead of us in which I will continue to invest for the industry that is dear to our hearts."
