Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon has had a Christmas to forget.
The Heart of Midlothian FC captain suffered a double broken leg in a collision with an opponent during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Dundee United, his club said on Monday.
Gordon "will be out for the rest of the season," Twitter said.
He has already had an operation.
"It's obviously a huge blow to lose a player as influential as Craig for the rest of the season.
But to be honest, all we're thinking about at the moment is his well-being," said coach Robbie Neilson.
Gordon turns 40 on New Year's Eve.
With his contract running until 2024, the 74-cap international still has a chance to return to the pitch as a Heart of Midlothian active player.
