On Boxing Day, the Geretsrieder River Rats welcome TSV Erding and hope for the support of as many fans as possible in order to be able to repeat the first leg success.

Geretsried – The preliminary round in the Bavarian ice hockey league runs until January 21st.

After that, the wheat is separated from the chaff, i.e. the clubs from places one to eight play for the championship and promotion to the Oberliga;

the clubs from ninth place down fight against relegation to the national league.

Of course, the Geretsrieder River Rats would also like to make it into the top 8, but it will be tricky.

"According to my calculations, you need at least 40 points this year to get into the promotion round," says Hans Tauber junior. Because his team currently has 28 points on their account, you would have to play in the remaining eight games (including the derby on Friday yesterday in Miesbach) get four wins.

"It won't be easy, because we still have some real hits ahead of us," the ESC coach is under no illusions.

One of them is TSV Erding, who are visiting the Heinz-Schneider-Stadion on Monday, December 26th at 5:30 p.m.

The sixth in the table recently attracted attention with victories against Waldkraiburg (9:2) and Pfaffenhofen (14:1).

In terms of personnel, ex-national player and TSV team manager Felix Schütz can draw on unlimited resources, has two top scorers in Philipp Michl and Mark Waldhausen, as well as Finnish defender Roni Rukajärvi and Czech veteran Tomas Plihal in the quota positions.

Goal scorer Daniel Krzizok is also back on board, having scored 6 goals and 13 assists in seven games so far.

"This is no longer the Erdinger team we won 5-3 in the first leg," warns Hans Tauber.

Nevertheless, everything will be tried to take the points from the competitor this time as well.

The ESC coach is also hoping for support from the stands: "It would be nice if many fans came to the stadium on Boxing Day.

The players really deserved that.”
