The 18-year-old Spanish boy who scored the third goal in the 3-1 win over Villa received compliments from Jurgen Klopp: "He's as cheeky as a demon and he's not worried about anything"

Liverpool, like quite a few teams in England, returned yesterday (Monday) to activity in the Premier League in the Boxing Day round, this after almost a month and a half break following the World Cup break.

The Mighty Reds played a difficult game against Aston Villa and managed to win 1:3 in Birmingham thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and the prodigy - Stefan Bejtic.

It was only his seventh appearance for Liverpool's senior team and he played a total of just 189 minutes in those games. The Spanish teenager joined Liverpool from his youth club Celta Vigo in November 2021, signing his first professional contract with the Premier League side at the age of 17. At Celta, he played as a stopper and midfielder A back, something that Jurgen Klopp needs like air to breathe in light of the injuries in his squad.

"He's as cheeky as a demon and he's not worried about anything," Klopp said of him after the game, "he just plays football and he can do it in an extraordinary way. He had a father who played football, so the genes are there but also the attitude, the awareness and the intelligence of the game. A pleasure Great to work with these kids."

2 - Liverpool's Stefan Bajcetic (18y 65d) has become the second youngest Spanish scorer in the Premier League after Cesc Fàbregas for Arsenal against Blackburn in August 2004 (17y 113d).

By the way, at the age of 18 and 65 days, Bejticic became Liverpool's third youngest scorer in the Premier League, after only Michael Owen (17 years and 143 days) and Raheem Sterling (17 years and 317 days).

He is also the second youngest Spaniard to score in the league - second only to Cesc Fabregas, who scored for Arsenal against Blackburn at the age of 17 years and 113 days in August 2004.

By the way, he wasn't the only young talent who got a chance against Villa.

Ben Doak came off the bench to make his Premier League debut at the age of 17 years and 45 days and in the process became the youngest Scottish player in the league's history - overtaking the record set in 1995 by Nigel Cowshey for Queens Park Rangers ( 17 years and 163 days).

"We know we need to create a situation where these boys can help us - and they can help us - but for that we need to be stable and they can fulfill their role."

In the next round, Liverpool will play at home against Leicester in a game that will take place on Friday (10:00 p.m., Sport 1).
