First huge deal following the World Cup:
Cody Gakpo, the great winger of PSV Eindhoven and the Dutch national team, has been sold to Liverpool, the Dutch club announced tonight (Tuesday).
The amount of the transfer was not published, but according to the Dutch, it is a record transfer for them in a deal that, according to reports, is estimated between 40 and 50 million euros.
Gakpo, who scored three goals in the World Cup with the Orange, will sign a long-term contract with Jurgen Klopp's team and strengthen its forward part that is suffering from injuries to key players such as Luis Dias and Diego Jota and said goodbye to Sadio Mane who moved to Bayern Munich in the summer.
Gakpo gave a great half season in the Netherlands and he leads his team in goals (9) and assists (12).
The 23-year-old grew up at PSV and scored 12 goals last season too, but has exploded this season with a superb half-season so far and was also the best player at the World Cup for Holland, who were knocked out in the World Cup quarter-finals by Argentina.
