Despite a strong final third, ESC Geretsried lost its Christmas home game against TSV Erding 4:6.

Coach Hans Tauber was particularly dissatisfied with the presentation of his defense.

Geretsried – The Geretsried ice hockey team continued to lose ground on the way to the Bayernliga championship round: in the 4:6 (1:3, 1:3, 2:0) on Sunday evening against TSV Erding, the River Rats conceded the second defeat of the Christmas weekend.

"We weren't always up to par defensively, we didn't have access to the opposing strikers," admitted Hans Tauber jun.

The Erdinger victory was deserved, the ESC coach stated and once again regretted "that we create a lot of chances, but score too few goals".

The guests started energetically and after four minutes they took the lead through Philipp Michl.

Gradually the first chances arose for the Geretsrieders, who had to do without the sick Martin Köhler, Benedikt May and Bernhard Jorde.

But while Jakub Rezac, Daniel Merl and Ondrej Horvath failed several times at TSV goalie Thomas Hingel, Michael Franz (14th) and Daniel Krzizok (15th) scored on the other side before Michael Harrer (16th) reduced the goal to 1:3.

Outnumbered, Sebastian Busch extended the Erdinger lead to 4:1 after 24 minutes, but Florian Strobl brought the River Rats to 2:4 on a power play (36th).

Again it was goalscorer Krzizok, who then outwitted the otherwise good ESC goalkeeper Johanna May with two shots to 2:5 (37th) and 2:6 (38th).

In the final section, the hosts turned up the heat again and also benefited from a number of penalties from the guests.

However, it was no longer enough for Strobl's 3:6 (51st) in the majority and Harrer's 4:6 (55th), especially since Xaver Hochstraßer and Horvath missed top-class chances.

But ESC keeper May also distinguished herself three more times.

"We scored the important goals at the right time," analyzed Erding's team manager, ex-national player Felix Schütz.
