The SGO swimmers were successful at the Bavarian short course championship.

Lukas Parockinger, Moritz Hoffmeyer and Katharina Rath really won medals.

Ingolstadt – Lukas Parockinger only realized how much he had exhausted himself after the attack at the edge of the pool.

"I had to hold on to keep from sinking," reports Weilheimer.

Looking back, the 400 meter individual medley was "the toughest race I've completed so far".

But Parockinger had to do everything to get the long-awaited gold medal on his parade route.

Because the main competitor, the much more experienced Miguel Alcalde (LG Stadtwerke Munich), did not give up.

On the last two lanes, Parockinger parried the Munich man's final sprint – with a time of 5:07.88 minutes, he won by around two seconds.

The training work in advance, three times a week he is in action in the Weilheim indoor pool, was worth it.

Lukas Parockinger really works himself out

Parockinger's performance was by no means the only highlight from the point of view of the SG Oberland-Penzberg at the Upper Bavarian Short Course Championship.

The association traveled to Ingolstadt with five young women and four young men.

The SGO squad came back home with 15 podium finishes and an all-around trophy.

The younger swimmers (born 2014 to 2005) competed within their age groups, the older ones (born 2004 or later) swam "all age groups", i.e. also against older athletes.

Moritz Hoffmeyer with an extensive program

Moritz Hoffmeyer (born 2005) unwound the most extensive program of all SGO swimmers.

He completed nine starts and collected seven medals.

He was the best of his age group in the 100-meter freestyle (58.95 seconds) and the 400-meter individual medley (5:29.80 minutes) and won gold.

Over the 50 meter butterfly, Hoffmeyer missed his third Oberbayern title by just three hundredths of a second.

With a personal best of 30.31 seconds, he was only beaten by a hair's breadth to Vitus Lerche (30.28) from SSG Neptun-Germering.

They had reason to smile: the SGO swimmers (top left) Lukas Parockinger, Katharina Rath, Moritz Hoffmeyer, (front left) Emma Heiss, Paul Artmann as well as Romy and Laura Gnadl took a total of 15 podium places and an all-around trophy.

Hoffmeyer also took silver in three other disciplines, namely over 100 meters butterfly (with a personal best of 1:07.84 minutes), 100 meters backstroke and 200 meters freestyle (with a personal best of 2:12.60).

There was also a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke.

In addition, Hoffmeyer won the trophy in the all-around classification of his year - the results of the three 100-meter distances were converted into points and evaluated.

Katharina Rath with optimal yield

Katharina Rath (born 2006) was able to show an optimal record: In her special position, the freestyle, she won five medals in five starts.

She won the district titles over 200 meters (2:18.74), 400 meters (4:51.50) and 1500 meters (19:00.00).

She left up to four competitors of the same age behind.

The starting field was particularly large in the 100-meter freestyle: Rath (1:03.66) took third place among 14 athletes.

She rounded off her good performance in the "Hallenbad Südwest" with a silver place in the 50 meter freestyle (29.64).

Winner Elena Stefanidis (VfL Waldkraiburg) was 55 hundredths faster.

Cancellation of the title fights prevented

It was a small miracle that the Upper Bavarian short course championship could take place at all with almost 500 entries and over 2300 starts.

The

Eichstätt police sports club

was the organizer ;

the swimming division is practiced in such major events.

However, two days before the event, the club was surprised by the report that the planned competition location, the

indoor pool of the riot police

in Eichstätt, had been

"closed as a precaution"

due to an expert opinion .

The exact reason for the blocking has not yet been announced.

The PSV actually managed to find a suitable alternative location (with holders for turning plates, backswimmer flags and false start lines): the

"South-West Indoor Swimming Pool" in Ingolstadt

.

Since this facility (nicknamed "the ox battle"/that's the name of the area in which the sports facility is located) has one lane more than the Eichstätter Bad, the entire competition schedule had to be adjusted.

The organizers managed that too, the process went smoothly.

Lukas Parockinger (born 2002) also dueled with older swimmers in his eight starts.

He completed the 100 meter individual medley with a personal best (1:09.03), which gave him eleventh place.

At the end of the two-day championship, he was able to call a complete set of medals his own: In addition to his 400-meter individual medley victory, there was also silver in the 200-meter individual medley (2:25.07) and bronze in the 200-meter butterfly (2:21.00 ) added.

The SGO athletes Romy Gnadl (born 2006), Laura Gnadl (born 2003), Marlene Fiehne (born 2008), Arthur Fiehne (born 2009), Paul Artmann (born 2010) and Emma Heiss ( born 2010).

They mainly competed on freestyle and backstroke courses.

Some top ten placements and personal best times were pleasing from a trainer's point of view.

A drop of bitterness was that breast specialist Luisa Fiehne (born 2006) had to be absent at short notice due to illness.

"She would also have had very good chances of winning a medal in this competition," said the SGO.

In the summer, Fiehne had already won medals in her age group – each time on the 50-meter track – at the district championship (in Waldkraiburg) and at the Bavarian championship (in Rosenheim).
