It was a bit of a shock for the Swedish alpine ski circus.
The 24-year-old downhill hopeful Olle Sundin surprisingly ended his career.
Djurgårdens - Ingemar Stenmark, André Myhrer, Pernilla Wiberg or Anja Pärson are just a few selected names that have made winter sports history.
All the people mentioned are Swedes who were on the podium at the Olympics.
One who will not be immortalized is 24-year-old Olle Sundin, who was actually considered a hope.
The Swedish Ski Federation is dealing with a small wave of resignations that is difficult to cope with.

Alpine ski hope Sundin has “no more motivation”
Only the 31-year-old teammate Alexander Köll announced his retirement.
"In order to achieve my next personal goals, I have to be 100 percent fit and I can clearly see that this is not the case," said Köll in a statement from the association.
End of career at the age of 31?
End of career at 24?
Olle Sundin doesn't like it anymore.
The skier and Swede, who is considered to be a great talent, is retiring.
"I just lost motivation and joy in skiing," Sundin is quoted as saying on the Swedish Ski Federation's website.
"I felt it last season, but I wanted to try again and not end my career last season," Sundin continued.
That feeling didn't change over the summer break.
"In the summer I didn't have time to think about skiing, then I stood there at the first training camp and realized that I was done with it." The German speed skater Joel Dufter also ended his career early at 27.
For ski hope Sundin, the end of his career has been an option for a long time
An ongoing process that emerged at Sundin: “It's not a hasty decision.
Downhill races used to be fun, but after competing last season I was happy when it was finally over.” But he already has plans for the future.
Since September 1, he has been in charge of an auction platform with two buddies.
The ex-skier is also considering studying.
He is interested in programming, technology and design.
On Instagram he posted several photos and a video on which even King Carl XVI.
Gustaf can be seen.
"I'll work for at least a year, then I'll see if I go to college or continue there," explains Sundin, who has never been able to introspect due to the distraction of skiing.
Many athletes wished him good luck for the future on Instagram, including the German Simon Jocher.
Ski successes in the World Cup remained rare for Sundin, in the European Cup on the podium
Sundin finished in the top ten several times in the European Cup and even ended up on the podium a few times.
At the world championships for professionals in 2019, as a 21-year-old, he finished 34th in downhill and super-G and even made it into the top 30 in super combined. At his last three World Cup races in March 2022 he was in the squad but never made it to the finish.

Among others, the German Franziska Hildebrand reported that she is withdrawing from biathlon because she is going to be a mother.
Olympic champion Justine Braisaz-Bouchet also becomes a mother and suspends the season.
Alpine skiing specialist Francesca Marsaglia also put her skis in the shed after a fall.
