ESC Dorfen and VfE Ulm/Neu-Ulm played a great ice hockey game on Wednesday evening.
Dorfen – And the ice pirates deservedly won 4:3 (1:0, 1:2, 2:1).
Match winner was ESC captain Christian Göttlicher with three goals.
Both parties had only filled one contingent position, Dorfen with Urban Sodja, Ulm with Dominik Synek.
The 17-year-olds Sebastian Kosmann and Fabio Lauffer also impressed in the ESC squad.
After "Puckkind" Maximilian Aigner from the U9 of ESV Quellenbach opened the game, the ice pirates in particular set a sharp pace.
Christoph Lönnig and Josef Folger only missed great opportunities in front of David Heckenberger in the guest goal.
The Ulmer Devils haven't had much to report for a long time.
After almost eight minutes, Joona Schneider got in touch with a shot at ESC goalkeeper Maxi Englbrecht, who had no great trouble with Synek's attempt three minutes later.
Those in front seemed to have everything under control.
Defender Florian Hartl frittered away the disc behind the goal, but Englbrecht prevented a deficit against Synek.
Ulm's captain Florian Dörner was then in the penalty box for ten seconds when ESC captain Göttlicher had refined a clever pass from Hradek to make it 1-0.
After the restart, the Danube Devils got into the game better and Englbrecht was challenged twice against Synek.
On the other hand, Sodja, Lukas Kirsch with a pawn trick and Kosmann had the best chances to extend the lead.
The penalty followed with Ulm's equalizer from Julian Tischendorf (29').
When Ulm was able to establish itself in the ESC third, the goal scorer for the 2-1 was again Tischendorf (35th).
But 18 seconds later everything was level again – the goal scorer was Göttlicher again.
The respectable game got even better in the final section.
Dorfen survived one of the few penalties when Tomas Vrba humorlessly shot the disc into the Ulmer Maschen to make it 3-2 for the Ice Pirates.
With his third goal and the "Goal of the Day" mark, Göttlicher increased the lead to 4:2 after a great solo.
Matteo Miller brought Ulm back up to 3:4 just over a minute later.
But the ice pirates didn't let the victory be taken away from them.
They just seemed to have more grain and also ended up with an Englbrecht as a tower in battle.
