This defeat was foreseeable.

Königsbrunn/Erding – The Erding Gladiators lost 1:6 (0:1, 0:3, 1:2) goals on Wednesday evening – both foreigners were missing – among other things, both foreigners were missing.

Erding's team boss Felix Schütz and coach Ales Jirik were not to be envied for their job.

Compared to Monday's game in Geretsried, Rudi Lorenz was back, but due to injury or illness, Dominik Wagner, Christoph Schedlbauer and Basti Cramer were also missing the two foreigners, the Finn Roni Rukajärvi and the Czech Tomas Plihal.

It was a good thing that with Luis disc graber and Björn Sahli there were at least two licensed players from EV Landshut, so that the gladiators could play with three complete blocks.

And for a long time they kept up well with the favored Königsbrunners.

The Gladiators even had their chances, but were unlucky in the finish - it ended up being the whole game.

And so the hosts took the lead after 15 minutes when, outnumbered, a concealed shot by Nicolas Baur found the Erdinger goal guarded by Thomas Hingel.

The second period was just 89 seconds old when it was 2-0 to the hosts after a goal from Lukas Heckelsmiller.

And the people of Königsbrunn followed suit: Jeffrey Szwez made it 3-0 in the 30th minute.

In the meantime, the hosts had brought a pretty tough note into the game.

However, from Erdinger's point of view, the referees were far too generous, at least as far as the actions of Königsbrunner were concerned. In the 32nd minute, however, they could not help but pronounce a game penalty against Max Petzold, who had badly checked Michael Franz from Erdinger.

But the five-minute overtime brought nothing, not least because two gladiators were sent to the penalty box in quick succession.

When both teams were complete again, Szwez increased to 4:0 (39th) - that was the preliminary decision.

In the final third, Erik Modlmayr scored after a remarkable solo to make it 1:4 (52nd), but the EHC countered with 5:1 through Marco Sternheimer (54th) and then went one better: As Erding with a two-man majority as well took the goalkeeper off the ice, Gustav Veisert made it 6:1 (57th) with a shot into the empty goal.

That ended a used day for the Gladiators.
