The match between Manchester City and Leeds United (10:00 p.m.) will bring the Norwegian back to the city where he was born for the first time in his career • Dor Hoffman on hairstyles, excitement and one mighty striker, who either way will be the big story of the evening

Arling Holland did a hairstyle.

Two inverted Chinese braids along the length of the head that give his hair a festive look.

The Norwegian made this hairstyle in honor of a festive occasion - probably the most festive for him since he left Borussia Dortmund and landed in Manchester City.

More festive than a season game against Liverpool, more festive than a battle against Arsenal, even more festive than a derby against United.

Tonight, for the first time in his career, Holland is going to play in Leeds, against Leeds United.

The connection of the striker to the northern city and the team from Aland Road goes as far back as possible.

Holland was born in Leeds in 2000, exactly a month after his father left the team after three seasons and signed for Manchester City.

The parents decided to stay a little longer in West Yorkshire, and there was born the one who would become the most feared striker in the world.

Since that day on July 21, 22 years ago, Holland has not for a moment forgotten where he came from.

A year and a half ago, when he handed out autographs to Dortmund fans, the striker was seen wearing Leeds pants.

A year earlier, when Norway played against Northern Ireland, he asked for the shirt of Stuart Dallas, who played for Leeds, and told him "we march together".

The love for Leeds has always been there, and I especially remember an interview he gave in 2017 when he was still a player for Mulda;

"My goal is to be a better player than my father" he said when he was 17 and added;

"My dream is to win the championship with Leeds United."

Holland's career took him to bigger places than Leeds, but even today he maintains a certain connection with the club.

When Jesse Marsh was appointed the team's coach, the Norwegian striker was one of the first to pick up the phone and wish him luck.

The two worked together at Red Bull Salzburg, and Holland is very happy that a coach he admires is going to the club he loves.

"He and his father sent me a lot of messages and were very supportive and encouraging" the American coach of Leeds said this week and referred to the upcoming game;

"I'm sure Arling is very excited and this is a big problem for us. As soon as the season's schedule came out, he wrote to me that he was most looking forward to Boxing Day, so I wrote to him that I allow him to stretch the muscle before the game."

With 18 goals in 13 games, Holland will be the story of this game anyway, what's more, it's his first league game after a month and a half.

His connection to Leeds - his birth there, his affection for the club, his relationship with Marsh and the fact that his father played for the club - all of these enhance the event even more.

Even though he didn't play for the club and even though he missed an opportunity to sign for Leeds in 2018, according to reports, Leeds people respect and value Holland especially.

They see him as one of their own, a huge athlete born in the same place they are.

Tonight the whole city will dress up for the historic meeting, and as you can see from the Norwegian's haircut: he is also ready.
