Prime Minister-designate Binyamin Netanyahu announced this evening (Wednesday) the appointment of MK Miki Zohar from the Likud as Minister of Sports. Zohar, who previously served as the chairman of the coalition, will replace Hili Trooper from the Zionist camp party.
As published in Israel Hayom, following the decision Toto will again be the responsibility of the ministry, and the minister's powers will be expanded.
The new move will result in a shortening of processes and endless bureaucracy, after the various sports bodies encountered in recent years a mess when the budgets arrived.
This led the Ministry of Sports to move to correct the situation, and from the beginning of next year, it will personally transfer the money to any organization that should receive more than NIS 100,000.
Zohar, who knows the world of sports and has served as a member of the board of the basketball association, is expected to replace Hili Trooper in his position.
When appointed, Zohar will be the 11th minister in office.
He was also preceded in Likud by Limor Livnat, Miri Regev and for a short time also Prime Minister-designate Binyamin Netanyahu.
