Football legend Pelé is dead. The three-time Brazilian world champion died at the age of 82, his daughter said on Instagram on Thursday.
Pelé was last hospitalized for an intestinal tumor.
He is considered one of the best footballers of all time.
He won the World Cup with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
Family members had recently gathered in a clinic in São Paulo, to which Pelé had been admitted at the end of November.
The doctors had said his cancer was advanced.
In addition, he had to be treated for functional disorders of the heart and kidneys.
In September 2021, Pelé had a tumor removed from his colon.
