Death of Pelé: Usain Bolt hails a "sports legend"

The fastest man in history, Usain Bolt, in turn mourns the death of King Pelé.

The Jamaican sprinter posted a tribute on social media on Thursday, shortly after his family announced the footballer's death.

“La Foudre”, still holder of the world records for the 100m (9″58) and the 200m (19″19) posted a photo on Twitter where he is alongside Pelé.

“A sports legend,” he wrote.

And complete “Rest in peace King Pelé”.

The 36-year-old world icon, who ended his career on the athletics tracks in 2017, has never hidden his passion for football.

"One of my biggest dreams is to sign for Manchester United," he confessed in the past.

In an interview given to “Le Parisien” in 2013, as the Moscow World Championships approached, Usain Bolt also compared himself to King Pelé.

“I am a legend!, he had assumed (…).

My main goal is to be recognized as one of the greatest in this world.

I entered history.

My name is next to those of Maradona, Pelé, Beckham… And that of Mohammed Ali, perhaps the greatest of us all”.
