The EHC Klostersee from Grafing conceded a tough away pack in Füssen in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd.

Füssen/Grafing

– Clear rebuff for EHC Klostersee, who still had every option to win a point after a good 35 minutes.

At EV Füssen, the Grafingers deservedly lost 8-1 on Wednesday evening, but overall it was a bit too high.

It was already the fourth and last meeting of the two opponents in the main round of the Oberliga Süd, although only a good half of the regular season has been played.

Grafing against Füssen offensively not dangerous enough

"You don't have to understand that," coach Dominik Quinlan also wondered about the uneven division of the schedule.

The head coach had tactically ordered the Reds and Whites to stand compact on the defensive and counter as effectively as possible.

This match plan worked until the final phase of the first section.

With a successfully completed attack it was nothing.

The Grafingers could not finish their advances dangerously enough for that.

But even Füssen hardly appeared in front of EHC goalie Dominik Gräubig, who cleared the rail after 90 seconds and after a direct shot from half-distance fended off the best chance of the hosts (14th).

Füssen's best opportunity to score until a minute before the end of the third.

The Klosterseers lost sight of EVF defender Lukas Slavetinsky for a moment, who had crept behind the defense.

The 41-year-old veteran and longtime DEL2 professional, who started the season with the Bayreuth Tigers, scored directly (19').

First annoying deficit, then clear matter

An annoying interim result from the point of view of the EHCler, who kept puck catcher Gräubig in action at the beginning of the second round with two brilliant saves (23rd).

Shortly thereafter, Vili Vesalainen made it 1-1.

The Finn had speculated on a rebound and pushed in (25th).

A controversial penalty - of course, any discussion of Marinus Kritzenberger, who could not calm down, was in vain - gave Füssen the chance to submit again.

The bottom of the table took advantage of the opportunity and soon made it 1:3 with a so-called “dirty goal” (29th/31st).

Before that, Klostersee had awarded the equalizer twice before.

Lynnden Pastachak, Philipp Quinlan and Vesalainen could have kept the game exciting, but the EVF proved to be more accurate.

With the double strike in the 38th minute within 39 seconds it was all over.

Klostersee's head coach Quinlan switched again for the last section within the four lines of attack.

However, the Grafinger were no longer present enough in the final section, increasingly lost the assignment in their own zone and conceded three more goals.
