Now Reutershahn is moving to Borussia Dortmund - the great rival of Nagelsmann's current club FC Bayern.

Nagelsmann's ex will be the new assistant coach at BVB and thus the successor to the retired Peter Hermann, who was once an assistant to Jupp Heynckes and Niko Kovac at FC Bayern.

Reutershahn receives a contract with BVB until the end of the season.

"Armin Reutershahn is a renowned, very experienced football professional who has worked with coaches such as Julian Nagelsmann, Niko Kovac and Adi Hütter throughout his long career and has always strived for maximum success," said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl in a club statement about the new signing .

"We are convinced that Armin Reutershahn will enrich our team of coaches with his skills and experience and will help us to achieve our goals for the season." The 62-year-old from Duisburg is now to help the young head coach Edin Terzic, just as he did at Nagelsmann has done.

Nagelsmann-Ex moves to Dortmund: Reutershahn helped Bayern coach to start

Reutershahn assisted Nagelsmann in 14 games, together they celebrated relegation with Hoffenheim in 2016.

After that, they parted ways.

Reutershahn became an assistant coach at Eintracht Frankfurt and won the DFB Cup with Nico Kovac in the 2018 final against Bayern.

Last season he was employed by Borussia Mönchengladbach until Adi Hütter was fired, now he is swapping Borussia.

"Borussia Dortmund stands for football tradition and enormous enthusiasm.

I'm really looking forward to BVB, working with head coach Edin Terzic and I'm sure that we'll be talking about a successful season at the end of the season," said Reutershahn of his new challenge.

FC Bayern: Reunion between Nagelsmann and Reutershahn in Munich

At the beginning of April, Nagelsmann and Reutershahn meet again when FC Bayern welcomes Dortmund to Munich's Allianz Arena.

The roles on the sidelines should therefore be clearly distributed for both teams.

However, it is still completely open who will then be in the FCB goal.

The recently favored Alexander Nübel gives FC Bayern an ice-cold basket.
