After a few minutes, Bayern division team EA Schongau was already clearly ahead at EC Pfaffenhofen.

After that, however, the favored “mammoths” had trouble finishing the goal.

Schongau – mandatory task fulfilled: That was the conclusion of the last Bayernliga game of EA Schongau this year.

At the tail light EC Pfaffenhofen, the men of coach Markus Ratberger prevailed relatively narrowly with 6:4 (3:1, 2:1, 1:2).

"The result does not reflect the course of the game," reported Ratberger.

"We should have won much more, but the conversion of chances was bad, like against Waldkraiburg," said Schongau's coach.

"But in the end the three points count and we're happy about them," said Ratberger.

The "Mammuts", who are free of games this Friday and will only play their next game at home against their neighbors from Peißenberg in a week's time, consolidated their fourth place with their seventh away win of the season.

With a lead of 14 points on the ninth place in the table, participation in the championship round is practically certain.

Four goals in the first five and a half minutes

In Pfaffenhofen, EAS newcomer Ryan Murphy was one of the most accurate Schongauers.

The 25-year-old American scored three goals, two of them outnumbered.

“Ryan is on the right track.

But then he has to score goals against strong opponents," Ratberger said.

His team, which started without Marius Klein (ailing), Lubos Velebny (unable to work) and Tobias Estermaier (ill), got off to a lightning start.

Jonas Lautenbacher (2nd) and Murphy (3rd) gave the Mammuts a 2-0 lead after less than three minutes.

Pfaffenhofen's new signing Jan Tlacil brought the home side back to 1:2 (4th).

In the first EAS power play in this very fair game, Simon Maucher made it 3:1 – at that point, only five and a half minutes had been played.

After that, the “mammoths” found it increasingly difficult to graduate.

Despite top-class chances, including a penalty by license player Tim Flammann, the former Peissenberger in the Pfaffenhofen goal, Jonathan Kornreder, kept his goal clean until the first break.

"After 20 minutes we could have been 8-1 up," Ratberger grumbled.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

In the second round, however, the Schongauer presented themselves accurately again at the beginning.

Lautenbacher (22nd) and Murphy (26th) increased to 4: 1 and 5: 1 during an EAS power play.

But that was it for goalscoring at EAS for a long time.

As a result, the efficiency in exploiting opportunities went down again.

Meanwhile, Pfaffenhofen used some negligence of the "mammoths" to get closer again.

Robert Gebhardt marked the 2:5 from the point of view of the home side (30th).

In the final third, Murphy completed the half-dozen with the Schongauers with his second number goal (57th).

"After that we were probably already in the dressing room," reported Ratberger in view of the noticeably decreasing commitment of his protégés.

As a result, the Pfaffenhofeners used the goals of Jakob Felsoci (58th) and Tlacil (60th) in the last few minutes to make up for the result a little.

Until yesterday, the Bavarian Ice Sports Association (BEV) had not made a decision regarding the game being abandoned in Erding.

"But it should be available by the end of the week," Ratberger reported.
