The timing could have been better.
As the world of football learned of the death of its king, on December 29 around 8 p.m., Jacques Cardoze chose this moment to announce the end of his adventure with Olympique de Marseille.
A decision, expected for several weeks, which follows certain behaviors little appreciated by the president of the club, Pablo Longoria.
On October 7, he had received a letter from human resources notifying him of an appointment prior to a sanction.
The reasons given were a fit of anger in the bays of the Vélodrome, and an anti-Parisian chant in the premises of the Commanderie.
According to the Team, he was also criticized for having “an opinion on all subjects” and his “too great freedom of speech.
“Since then, he was on sick leave and seemed to be living the situation badly.
My adventure at OM is coming to an end.
In 2023 I will resume my path as a journalist.
Thank you to all those who trusted me, especially the supporters, with whom sharing these moments of emotion and passion was a great joy.
Good luck to the club for the rest 🔵⚪️

In addition to his message published on social networks, the one for whom working at OM was a "kid's dream" spoke to puremédias.com.
He evokes a decision taken by "common agreement" following a change of strategy on the part of Pablo Longoria: "The president wanted to reorganize his communication around the director of football and the administrative and marketing director", estimates Jacques Cardoze.
“I leave with my head held high, it was a very rewarding experience,” he concludes.
Arrived at the post in May 2021, his adventure with his favorite club will only last 18 months.
“I knew that football was a volatile world, with a lot of pressure, permanent changes,” he concedes.
Former journalist, notably presenter of "Complément d'Enquête", he should make his return to the media.
But not within the France 2 broadcast. “I find myself in a bit of an unprecedented situation, it's not common.
I have already started making a few phone calls [...] but nothing concrete yet.
