SpVgg Freising is experiencing a season to forget: great ambitions are followed by a crashing relegation

Freising – The wrestlers of SpVgg Freising in the Bayernliga experienced a season to forget.

Coach Csongor Knipli's goal for the season before the season was third place - but in the end the Domstadt team ended up at the bottom of the table and have to make their way to the national league.

Blame it?

On the one hand, omissions by the board of directors, on the other hand, the unwillingness of the seasoned wrestlers to serve.

Due to many absentees, it was not easy for the coach to field a team every week.

SpVgg Freising: Bureaucratic problems with the strong foreign wrestlers

Romanian star newcomer Norbert Molnos became a curiosity.

Because those responsible failed to send the necessary papers to the association in good time, it was not used until the second half of the season.

As a replacement, the Freisingers had shaken the 18-year-old Ukrainian Jasurbek Ubaidulloev out of his sleeve.

On the one hand, however, this proved to be too inexperienced for the Bayernliga.

In addition, he occupied one of the two permitted places for foreigners, and that should become a problem because of another story: Because Navid Saifi, who inspired in the classes up to 98 and 130 kilos, waited a long time for his status as a sports German.

Week after week it was said that it should soon be ready - but it took until the middle of the season before the Freisinger were allowed to report completion.

The preliminary round was a complete disaster.

Starting with the defeat against the later relegation opponent SV Kempten, the Freisinger reached the low point in the home fight against SV Untergriesbach.

On the mat, the SpVgg wrestlers showed their best performance to date, and the result would have been a 17:17 draw.

However, the Domstädter left both classes up to 75 kilos unoccupied, which brought victory to the guests.

After the bankruptcy in Mietraching, the preliminary round ended without a single point.

SpVgg Freising: The boys should fight more in the state league – Knipli goes to Hallbergmoos

The start of the second half of the season gave hope: Norbert Molnos was finally able to get on the mat, and in the 19:13 victory in Kempten he showed his class with an early win.

After the 12:24 in the first leg, Freising was further behind the SVK because of the lost direct comparison.

There was brief cheering on the third to last day of the fight.

A hard-fought 19:17 victory over ATSV Kelheim gave rise to new hopes of staying up in the league.

However, disillusionment followed promptly when looking at the other results: Kempten had also won, and when the Allgäu team added another victory a week later, SpVgg Freising's relegation was already certain before the final day of fighting.

So next year we'll continue in the national league: There are only seven weight classes, each of which is wrestled in both styles.

This could be of particular benefit to young athletes in the lower weight classes, who have gained a lot of experience in the Bayernliga but only a few fights.

However, head coach Csongor Knipli will not be taking part in the state league.

He moved to neighboring SV Siegfried Hallbergmoos in the 2nd Bundesliga (we reported).
