After an interview with President Noël Le Graët last Thursday, the future of Didier Deschamps seems to be more and more colored in blue.

That's good, since the French seem largely in favor of retaining the current national coach, who took the reins of the France team in July 2012.

According to the Odoxa* sports barometer produced for Winamax and RTL on the results of the World Cup and the prospects for the French team, 70% of respondents (and 74% of football fans) do not want to see the former captain of the Blues to leave his post even if his replacement were to be named Zinedine Zidane!

The formalization of the extension of the "DD" lease could also take place during the first federal assembly of the year on January 7, even if there is no urgency.

The first match of the Blues post-World Cup is scheduled for March 25 at the Stade de France against the Netherlands as part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Three-quarters includes Benzema's retirement

If the French were critical of the Qatari World Cup before the competition (75% said they were worried about the human rights situation in the country or shocked by the weather conditions), the round ball and the course of the band in Lloris quickly swept away their moods.

Only 42% of respondents and 43% of football fans have sometimes been embarrassed to follow the competition because of the controversy.

Finally, 51% of French people and 64% of football fans believe that the organization was beyond reproach and retain what they describe as a "beautiful World Cup in sporting terms" (70% and 88%).

69% of football fans even call France-Argentina the biggest final in history

The French and football fans were sad (59% and 78%) to see the Blues fail so close to a new coronation.

But they are almost as numerous to think that Argentina and Messi deserved to win this final (52% and 54%).

The players of the France team have in any case made the French proud (66%) and football fans (86%).

The tricolor epic in Qatar was also marked by the affair of Benzema, who left the group for an injury that is still debated and announced his decision to retire from international football.

If they reproach him for having made his announcement the day after the competition (53%), football fans understand the decision of the Ballon d'Or (75%).

As for this tumultuous story that ends, they are quite divided, like a character who has always divided.

51% think he deserved a better career in Blue, 48% don't.

*Survey carried out on a sample of 1,005 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, including 517 football fans.
