Cristiano Ronaldo follows the call of money and signs with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
His decision caused a lot of ridicule.
Riyadh - CR7 has made his decision: The Portuguese superstar signs "the biggest contract in sports history and collects 500 million euros for two years", headlined the Portuguese sports newspaper
A Bola
on New Year's Eve morning.
The only catch in the mega deal with Al-Nassr: Cristiano Ronaldo is sinking into sporting insignificance.

Cristiano Ronaldo moves to Saudi Arabia - statement from 2015 catches up with him
In 2015 he still stated: "I want to end my career at the highest level, with dignity and at a good club".
That didn't quite work out.
Instead, the 37-year-old let the Saudis put him in front of the cart with lots and lots of money: in addition to his commitment to Al-Nassr, he is to become an ambassador for the 2030 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia wants to host together with Greece and Egypt.
In the future, he will no longer play against FC Barcelona, Manchester City or FC Bayern in a blue and yellow robe, but against Al-Shabab, Ittihad and Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo will have been clear that his move to the desert would draw a lot of ridicule.
And so it happened.

Is Ronaldo now playing for Lidl?
Fans scoff: "Cristiano is employee of the month"
Ironically, the jersey colors from Al-Nassr offer a steep template - the yellow and blue tones correspond exactly to those of the supermarket chain Lidl.
The German company operates around 12,000 branches in 31 countries around the world, making it the largest discounter in the world (by number of branches).
According to many Internet users, the color similarity was noticed immediately.
That's why photo montages of CR7 as Lidl employees make the rounds around New Year's Eve.
A Portuguese dubs it with the mocking words: "Cristiano is our employee of the month." "Ronaldo has signed for Lidl FC," amuses another user.
Ronaldo's advisor is said to have knocked on the door in all the top leagues, at FC Bayern, BVB and even Eintracht Frankfurt, as club boss Axel Hellmann recently revealed.
Nobody struck - except Lidl.
Or Al-Nassr.
