First defeat of the season for PSG: Paris is not invincible

2023-01-01T22:16:06.276Z

Faced with a formidable Lensoise team (3-1), the Parisians, deprived of Messi or Neymar, experienced their first defeat of the season.

Mr. Brisard's whistle freed Bollaert.

The Parisians have understood: their crazy challenge of a Ligue 1 season without defeat collapsed on the first day of 2023. After 25 unbeaten games, PSG lost to Lens.

This is Christophe Galtier's first defeat with Paris and the first for Paris since March 20, 2022, in Monaco (3-0).

Without Messi, expected in the next few hours returning from post-world title vacation, nor Neymar, suspended after his red card against Strasbourg (2-1), Paris has sorely lacked imagination.

The lost duels did the rest, four days after an already in extremis success at the Park.

Franck Haise, the Lensois coach, had prepared his case perfectly.

With a green on Saturday evening, he was sure that his players would spend “midnight in bed”.

After an ovation for the arrival of Kylian Mbappé on the lawn for the warm-up, then an intense minute of applause in tribute to Pelé, the Lensois supporters were able to vibrate as so often this season.

They witnessed their team's ninth straight home win.

Here they are again four points behind PSG, still the leader.

Like the thousand Parisian supporters who entered the stands very late, the capital's players seemed strangely absent in the first minutes of this poster.

With Presnel Kimpembe still in care, but present, and Juan Bernat on the bench, the Parisian defense was totally lost.

If Hakimi quickly adapted to the left, Mukiele left boulevards on the right side.

Haidara, alone, quickly took the opportunity to put away and Frankowski popped up to take the ball diverted by Donnarumma in the air (1-0, 5th).

Verratti and Ruiz lost

Bollaert then capsized with happiness for the first time.

Fortunately for the Parisians, Ekitike took over a discount from Soler.

The problem is that he went for the ball in Samba's gloves.

The VAR found nothing to complain about and validated the goal to the greatest incomprehension of the Lensois goalkeeper (1-1, 8th).

With a midfield where Verratti, for his 400th Parisian match, seemed as lost as Fabian Ruiz, Paris quickly almost conceded a new goal but Claude-Maurice, alone at the far post, missed his volley (23rd).

Donnarumma revived the tradition of… missed raises.

But he caught the strike from Openda (26th).

It was only a postponement.

In the ball loss game, Soler wasted a nice move initiated by Mbappé.

A high-class movement initiated by Fofana and brilliantly concluded by Openda gave Lens a deserved advantage (2-1, 28th).

By the way, Ramos and Marquinhos were put in the wind and on the ground.

They never quite got up.

After the break, in the wake of the Corons, taken over as magnificently by the people of Lens, Fabian Ruiz lost his tenth ball of the evening and Claude-Maurice emerged, served by a brilliant heel from Openda (3-1, 47th).

Bollaert sang louder.

Christophe Galtier grimaced.

Less than the trip to Châteauroux, Friday January 6, for the 32nd final of the Coupe de France, it is undoubtedly the sight of the difficulties of his team as soon as an opponent puts on the intensity which must worry him, to a month and a half of the meeting against Bayern.
