Suarez goes to Brazil

In the future, Luis Suárez will be on the hunt for goals for the traditional Brazilian club Gremio Porto Alegre.

As the club announced on New Year's Eve, the free striker signed a two-year contract until the end of 2024 with the newly promoted Bundesliga club.

In Brazil, the season begins and ends with the calendar year.

"Ready for this beautiful challenge," wrote Suárez, who will soon be 36, on social media.

»I look forward to being there and enjoying it.«

The Uruguayan national team's record goalscorer only returned to his home country last summer after 16 years in Europe's leagues and joined Nacional de Montevideo.

At his youth club he also wanted to get in shape for the World Cup in Qatar.

At the World Cup, however, the former attacking star of Atlético Madrid, FC Barcelona and FC Liverpool with Uruguay was eliminated in the preliminary round.

Stuttgart binds Silas

VfB Stuttgart has prematurely extended the contract with attacking player Silas by two more years until 2026.

The club announced this on New Year's Day.

In the current season, the 24-year-old has played in 16 competitive games and scored four goals.

Silas has been playing at VfB since 2019.

"With his speed and goal threat, Silas is an important factor in our offensive game.

He still has further potential that we want to develop together with him in the coming months and years,” said Stuttgart's sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.
